Omega-3 is brain fuel!

Omega-3 for brain and eye health

The brain of a newborn baby weighs about 380 g and by the age of two, it weighs on average 1,1 kg. The brain of an adult weighs about 1,3 kg*. A large part of the brain consists of fat. No other human organ benefits from the omega-3 fatty acid DHA more than the brain.

Actually, it’s pretty amazing how your eyes and brain work together. Signals from the eyes are sent via the retina to the brain and communication between brain cells and the rest of the body occurs through millions of nerve signals – all in a mere second! The faster the messages between the cells, the faster we perceive and can respond; for example, by making letters into words and words into sentences. This is a crucial function for all individuals, young and old, when solving small and big tasks at school, home and work.

Omega-3 for normal brain function

Studies show that intake of the omega-3 fatty acid DHA contributes to the brain’s normal function*. DHA is a fatty acid we need to obtain through our daily diet as the body does not produce it efficiently itself. Möller’s Cod Liver Oil (CLO) has a particularly high natural content of DHA that comes from the Northeast Arctic cod. This cod migrates to Lofoten on the rugged northwest coast of Norway every year. Only two capsules of Möller’s Omega-3 or a tablespoon of Möller’s CLO (5 ml) covers the daily need for omega-3. For children who do not like the taste of CLO, Möller’s Omega-3 Jelly Fish can be a great alternative.

*Beneficial effect is achieved with a daily intake of 250 mg DHA and EPA.
